Neuro Ophthalmology

Neuro-ophthalmology is a specialty that focuses on vision problems caused by neurological conditions rather than eye diseases alone. It deals with disorders of the optic nerve, brain pathways controlling vision, and eye movements. Patients are typically evaluated for symptoms like sudden or unexplained vision loss, double vision, abnormal pupils, visual field defects, or drooping eyelids. Neuro-ophthalmologists use advanced testing and imaging to diagnose conditions such as optic neuritis, nerve palsies, strokes affecting vision, tumors, or raised intracranial pressure. Early evaluation is crucial because many of these conditions are complex, time-sensitive, and may lead to permanent vision loss if untreated...

Optic Neuritis

Optic neuritis is a condition where the optic nerve—the cable that connects the eye to the brain—becomes inflamed. Imagine this nerve as a high-speed internet cable transmitting visual information. When it swells, the signals slow down or get interrupted, leading to blurred or dim vision.

The condition often affects one eye at a time and is most common in young adults, especially women between the ages of 20 and 45.

Symptoms:

  • Blurred or reduced vision, especially central vision

  • Loss of color perception (colors look faded)

  • Pain in or around the eye, often worse with movement

  • Flashes of light or flickering sensations

  • Temporary blindness in severe cases

Causes

The exact cause is not always clear, but optic neuritis is commonly linked with:

Multiple sclerosis (MS): often the first presenting symptom

Autoimmune diseases

Infections

Rarely, medications or toxins

Diagnosis:

An eye doctor may perform

  • Visual acuity tests (clarity of sight)

  • Color vision tests

  • Visual field tests

  • OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography): to see nerve swelling

  • MRI of brain and orbit: to look for MS or inflammation

Treatment

  • Most cases improve on their own within weeks to months. However, treatment may be required:

  • Steroid injections or tablets: speed up recovery

  • Treating underlying disease: like MS or infection

  • Vision rehabilitation: in case of persistent vision loss

Our mission

We're on a mission to change the way the housing market works. Rather than offering one service or another, we want to combine as many and make our clients' lives easy and carefree. Our goal is to match our clients with the perfect properties that fit their tastes, needs, and budgets.

Our vision

We want to live in a world where people can buy homes that match their needs rather than having to find a compromise and settle on the second-best option. That's why we take a lot of time and care in getting to know our clients from the moment they reach out to us and ask for our help.
